Introduction
LM5008A is a functional variant of the LM5008 COT buck switching regulator. Functional differences of the LM5008A include: a minimum input operating voltage of 6V, a slightly different on-time formula, and the removal of the minimum load current requirement.
The LM5008A buck switching regulator incorporates all the features necessary to implement a low-cost, high-efficiency step-down bias regulator. This high-voltage regulator includes a 100V N-channel buck switch. Easy to implement, and available in VSSOP-8 and thermally enhanced WSON-8 packages. The regulator is based on a control scheme in which the on-time is inversely proportional to V_IN. This characteristic keeps the operating frequency relatively constant. The control scheme requires no loop compensation. Intelligent current limiting is achieved through a forced off-time that is inversely proportional to V_OUT. This approach ensures short-circuit control while providing minimal foldback. Additional features include: thermal shutdown, V_CC undervoltage lockout, gate drive undervoltage lockout, maximum duty cycle limiter, and pre-bias switch.
