Introduction
The TPS22917x is a small single-channel load switch that uses a low-leakage P-channel MOSFET to achieve ultra-low power dissipation. An advanced gate control design supports operation down to 1V while providing ultra-low on-resistance and power loss. Rise and fall times can be independently adjusted using external components for system-level optimization. Inrush current can be managed by adjusting the timing capacitor (C_T) and turn-on time without introducing unnecessary system delay. The output discharge resistor (QOD) can be used to adjust the output fall time. Connecting the QOD pin directly to the output yields the fastest fall time, while leaving it open yields the slowest. The switch conduction state is controlled by a digital input that interfaces directly with low-voltage control signals. The TPS22917 uses active-high enable logic, while the TPS22917L uses active-low enable logic. At initial power-up, the device uses an intelligent pull-down resistor to keep the ON pin from floating until system sequencing is complete. Once the ON pin is intentionally driven high (≥V_IH), the intelligent pull-down resistor (R_PD) is disconnected to prevent unnecessary power dissipation. The TPS22917x is available in a leaded SOT-23 package (DBV) that supports visual inspection of solder joints. The device operates over a temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
