Introduction
The DACx0508 is a member of the low-power, eight-channel, buffered voltage-output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) pin-compatible family, offering 16/14/12-bit resolution. The DACx0508 includes a 2.5V (5ppm/°C) internal voltage reference, eliminating the need for an external precision reference in most applications. User-selectable gain configurations provide 1.25V (gain = 1/2), 2.5V (gain = 1), or 5V (gain = 2) full-scale output voltages. The device is powered by a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply, features monotonicity, and offers high linearity of ±1 LSB INL. The DACx0508 communicates via a serial interface that operates at clock rates up to 50MHz. The VIO pin allows the serial interface to operate from 1.7V to 5.5V. The DACx0508's flexible interface supports a wide range of industry-standard microprocessors and microcontrollers. The DACx0508 incorporates a power-on reset circuit to power up and hold the DAC outputs at zero or midscale until a valid code is written to the device. The device consumes as little as 0.6mA per channel (5.5V), making it suitable for battery-powered equipment. The per-channel power-down feature reduces the device's current consumption to 15μA. The DACx0508 is available in a small package and operates over the temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
