Introduction
The TLC5958 is a 48-channel constant-current sink driver suitable for multiplexed systems with a duty cycle ranging from 1 to 32. Each channel features individually adjustable 65,536-step pulse width modulation (PWM) grayscale (GS). A 48K-bit display memory is used to increase the visual refresh rate while reducing the GS data write frequency. The output channels are divided into three groups, with 16 channels in each group. Each group has a 512-step color brightness control (CC) function. The maximum current values of all 48 channels can be set through an 8-step global brightness control (BC) function. CC and BC can be used to adjust the brightness deviation between LED drivers. The GS, CC, and BC data can be accessed through a serial interface port. The TLC5958 has an error flag: LED open detection (LOD), which can be read through the serial interface port. The TLC5958 also has a power-saving mode that can set the total current consumption to 0.8 mA (typical) after all outputs are turned off.
