Introduction
With inductive sensing technology, designers can measure small displacements of conductive targets, enabling the design of touch buttons for human-machine interfaces (HMIs) on various materials such as metal, glass, plastic, and wood. The sensor of the inductive touch system is a coil that can be implemented on a small PCB. This PCB is located behind the panel to protect it from the external environment. Inductive sensing solutions are immune to interference from humidity or non-conductive contaminants such as oil, grease, and dust. It can automatically correct any deformation of the conductive target. The LDC2112/LDC2114 is a multi-channel, low-noise inductive digital converter that uses an integrated algorithm to enable inductive touch applications. This device features an innovative LC resonator that provides high suppression of noise and interference. The LDC2112/LDC2114 can reliably detect material displacements of less than 200 nm. The LDC2112/LDC2114 also offers an ultra-low-power mode for use with on/off buttons in battery-powered applications.
