Introduction
The DRV5056 is a linear Hall effect sensor that responds proportionally to south-pole magnetic flux density. It enables precise position detection across a wide range of applications. This analog output features a unipolar magnetic response, driving 0.6V in the absence of a magnetic field, with voltage increasing in the presence of a south pole. For single-pole sensing applications, this response maximizes output dynamic range. Four sensitivity options further optimize output swing based on the required sensing range. The device operates from a 3.3V or 5V supply. It detects magnetic flux perpendicular to the top of the package, with two package options offering different sensing orientations. The device employs a ratiometric architecture that minimizes VCC tolerance errors when an external ADC is referenced to the same VCC. In addition, the device features magnet temperature compensation to offset magnet drift, delivering linear performance across a wide temperature range. Options A1 through A4 support a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. The A6 version supports a temperature range of 0°C to 85°C.
