Introduction
The TPS650864 device family is a single-chip power management IC (PMIC) designed specifically for the Xilinx Zynq multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC) and FPGA series. The TPS650864 device supports an input voltage range of 5.6V to 21V, enabling a wide range of applications. The device is suitable for wall-powered applications or 2-, 3-, and 4-cell series-connected Li-ion battery packs (NVDC or non-NVDC power architectures). D-CAP2 and DCS-Control high-frequency regulators use compact passive components to minimize solution size. The D-CAP2 and DCS-Control topologies offer excellent transient response performance, making them ideal for processor core and system memory voltage rails with fast load switching. The I2C interface enables easy control via an embedded controller (EC) or SoC. The PMIC measures 8mm × 8mm in a single-row VQFN package with an exposed thermal pad for improved thermal dissipation.

- Three variable output voltage synchronous buck converters with DCS-Control topology, input voltage range 3V to 5.5V, output current up to 3A, I2C DVS control in 10mV steps from 0.41V to 1.67V or in 25mV steps from 0.425V to 3.575V
- Three LDO regulators with adjustable output voltage: LDOA1 with I2C selectable voltage range 1.35V to 3.3V, output current up to 200mA; LDOA2 and LDOA3 with I2C selectable voltage range 0.7V to 1.5V, output current up to 600mA each
- VTT LDO for DDR memory termination; three load switches with slew rate control, output current up to 300mA, voltage drop less than 1.5% of nominal input voltage, RDSON <96mΩ at 1.8V input
- Fixed 5V output LDO (LDO5) for SMPS gate drivers and LDOA1 supply, with automatic switchover to external 5V buck for higher efficiency
- Built-in flexibility and configurability via factory OTP programming: six GPI pins configurable to enable (CTL1 to CTL6) any selected voltage rail or enter sleep mode (CTL3 and CTL6); four GPO pins configurable to indicate power-good status of any selected rail; open-drain interrupt output pin
- I2C interface supporting Standard Mode (100kHz), Fast Mode (400kHz), and Fast Mode Plus (1MHz)
