Introduction
The UCC24612 is a high-performance synchronous rectifier controller and driver for standard and logic-level N-channel MOSFET power devices. By implementing near-ideal diode emulation, the UCC24612 reduces losses in the output rectifier and indirectly reduces primary-side losses. The drain-to-source (VDS) sensing control scheme allows the UCC24612 to be used with multiple topologies, such as active clamp flyback, QR/DCM/CCM flyback, and LLC. The integrated features simplify the design process, enabling the UCC24612 to perform excellently in applications at various frequencies. The wide VDD and VD operating voltage ranges facilitate easy implementation in systems with output voltages up to 28V. Efficiency and noise immunity are improved through an adaptive minimum off-time. The variant devices UCC24612-1 and UCC24612-2 have different minimum on-times to enhance noise immunity. Robust operation in CCM mode is further enhanced by a proportional gate driver and a continuous conduction mode (CCM) cycle limit pre-shutdown. The UCC24612 has multiple features that improve efficiency. A fast comparator with short propagation delay reduces switching losses. A 9.5V gate driver clamp reduces MOSFET drive losses. A frequency-dependent standby mode further reduces standby power consumption. These features help the UCC24612 become part of larger systems that meet strict efficiency standards such as the US Department of Energy (DoE) Level VI and the Code of Conduct (CoC) Tier 2. The UCC24612 comes in an SOT23-5 package.
