Introduction
The TPS22962 is a small, ultra-low RON, single-channel load switch with controlled turn-on functionality. The device integrates an N-channel MOSFET that operates over a 0.8V to 5.5V input voltage range and supports up to 10A continuous current.
The combination of ultra-low RON and high current handling capability makes this device ideal for driving processor power rails with very strict voltage drop tolerances. The controlled rise time significantly reduces inrush current caused by large bulk load capacitances, thereby reducing or eliminating power supply droop. The switch is controlled solely via the ON pin, which interfaces directly with low-voltage control signals generated by a microcontroller or low-voltage discrete logic. By integrating a 224Ω pull-down resistor that provides quick output discharge (QOD) when the switch is off, the device further reduces overall solution size.
The TPS22962 is available in a small 3mm×3mm ultra-thin WSON-8 package (DNY). The DNY package integrates a thermal pad that enables high power dissipation in high-current and high-temperature applications. The device is rated for operation from -40°C to 85°C in a natural convection environment.
