Introduction
ONET1151M is a high-speed, 3.3V modulator driver designed to drive a differential Mach-Zehnder modulator at data rates from 1Gbps up to 11.35Gbps. Output swing can be controlled using an externally applied voltage. A 2-wire interface enables digital control of the equalizer, output pre-emphasis, eye diagram crossing point, rise and fall times, and swing, eliminating the need for external components. Output waveform control is provided in the form of pre-emphasis, crossing point adjustment, and rise/fall time adjustment to improve optical eye diagram mask margin. An optional input equalizer with 10dB boost at 5GHz can be used to equalize up to 300mm (12 inches) of microstrip and stripline transmission lines on FR-4 PCBs. This modulator driver operates at case temperatures from -40°C to 100°C and is housed in a compact 3mm x 3mm 16-pin RoHS-compliant QFN package.
