Introduction
ONET1141L is a high-speed, 3.3V electro-absorption modulator driver designed to bias and modulate an electro-absorption modulated laser (EML) at data rates from 1Gbps up to 11.3Gbps.
The device provides a two-wire serial interface that enables digital control of modulation and bias currents, eliminating the need for external components. Output waveform control is available in the form of crossing point adjustment and rise/fall time adjustment to improve signal quality. An optional input equalizer is available to equalize signals over up to 150mm (6") microstrip or stripline transmission lines on FR-4 PCBs. The device incorporates internal ADC and DAC converters, eliminating the need for application-specific microcontrollers.
The ONET1141L includes an integrated automatic power control (APC) loop that compensates for variations in voltage, temperature, and average optical power of the laser on the circuit to support laser safety and transceiver management systems.
The modulator driver is specified over the industrial case temperature range and is offered in a compact 4mm x 4mm 24-pin RoHS-compliant QFN package.
