Introduction
TPS65262-2 is a monolithic triple synchronous buck converter with 3A/1A/1A output current capability. The wide input supply voltage range of 4.5V to 18V covers most intermediate bus voltages operating from 5V, 9V, 12V, or 15V power buses. This converter features constant-frequency peak current mode control, designed to simplify the application while allowing designers to optimize the system for their target application. The device operates at a fixed switching frequency of 600kHz. To reduce external component count, loop compensation for buck2 and buck3 is integrated on-chip. The 180° out-of-phase operation between buck1 and buck2/3 (buck2 and buck3 operate in-phase) minimizes input filter requirements.
The TPS65262-2 can enter pulse skip mode (PSM) by connecting the MODE pin to GND, or forced continuous conduction mode (FCM) by driving the MODE pin high or leaving it floating. PSM improves efficiency at light loads by reducing switching losses, while FCM reduces noise sensitivity and RF interference.
In addition, the TPS65262 integrates two LDOs with an input voltage range of 1.3V to 18V, continuous output current of 350mA/150mA, independent enable pins, and adjustable output voltages.
The power good pin is asserted whenever any output voltage falls outside the regulation range.
