The TPD4S214 is a single-chip protection solution designed for USB On-the-Go (OTG) and other current-limited USB applications. This device integrates a low RDS(ON) N-channel current-limiting switch, which can provide OTG current for peripheral devices. The TPD4S214 provides low-capacitance transient voltage suppression (TVS) electrostatic discharge (ESD) clamping diodes on the D+, D–, and ID pins, and is suitable for both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 applications. The VBUS pin can handle continuous voltages in the range of -7V to 30V. The overvoltage lockout (OVLO) on the VBUS pin ensures that once a fault occurs on the VBUS line, the TPD4S214 can isolate it and protect the internal circuit from damage. Similarly, the undervoltage lockout (UVLO) on the VOTG_IN pin ensures that the internal OTG power supply will not supply power to the external VBUS when VOTG_IN drops below the safe operating level. When EN is at a high level, the OTG switch is activated, and the FLT pin indicates whether a fault has occurred. This soft-start feature waits for 16 ms after all operating conditions are met before turning on the OTG switch.
