Introduction
TPE1501x is a monolithic PoE PD integrating a PD interface and a flyback power converter. The device supports the IEEE 802.3af standard interface and is designed for compact 13W isolated PoE applications. The PD interface includes all IEEE 802.3af features, including detection, classification, inrush current limiting, operating current limiting, and a 100V hot-swap MOSFET. To achieve small size and high switching frequency, the TPE1501x flyback converter is specifically designed with an active-clamp primary-side regulation flyback topology. The TPE1501x can also be configured as a secondary-side regulation active-clamp flyback topology, achieving optimal regulation via an optocoupler on the secondary side. The TPE15017 automatically draws a 15mA pulse current as the MPS characteristic current under light-load conditions to maintain the connection with the PSE, and disables the MPS current when the load current exceeds the MPS threshold. The TPE15018 disables the MPS function. The TPE1501x is available in a 3mm × 4mm QFN-19 package.
