Introduction
This product is a carrier board or breakout board for the Toshiba TB67S128FTG microstepping bipolar stepper motor driver. This stepper motor driver offers microstepping resolution as fine as 1/128 step, allowing you to control a bipolar stepper motor with continuous current up to approximately 2.1A per phase (5A peak) without a heatsink or forced airflow. The board breaks out every control pin and output of the TB67S128FTG, enabling users to access all features of the driver.
Features
- Two interface modes: clock mode for simple step and direction control; serial mode for controlling driver functions via serial interface (also allows serial current limit control).
- Eight microstepping modes: full-step, half-step, 1/4-step, 1/8-step, 1/16-step, 1/32-step, 1/64-step, and 1/128-step.
- Adjustable current control for configurable maximum current output.
- Four decay modes: mixed decay (two timing ratios), fast decay, slow decay, and Adaptive Mixed Decay (ADMD), which dynamically switches between slow and fast decay by monitoring actual motor current.
- Configurable Active Gain Control (AGC) that automatically reduces drive current when maximum torque is not required, minimizing power consumption and heat generation.
- Motor supply voltage range: 6.5V ~ 44V.
- Continuous output up to approximately 2.1A per phase (5A peak).
- Direct interface compatibility with 3.3V and 5V systems.
- Overcurrent/short-circuit and over-temperature protection.
- Open-load detection.
- Active-low error output indicating overcurrent, over-temperature, or open-load conditions.
- Carrier board adds reverse voltage protection up to 40V.
- Carrier board breaks out all pins of the TB67S128FTG in a compact form factor.
- Exposed solderable ground pad on the bottom underside of the driver IC.
