Introduction
The STSPIN32G0602 is a system-in-package device offering an integrated solution for driving three-phase applications. It integrates a microcontroller and a 600 V three-phase half-bridge gate driver capable of driving N-channel power MOSFETs or IGBTs. The device incorporates a comparator with advanced smart shutdown functionality, ensuring fast and effective protection against overload and overcurrent conditions. Integrated high-voltage bootstrap diodes, along with cross-conduction prevention, dead time insertion, and UVLO protection on both low-side and high-side driver sections, prevent the power switches from operating under inefficient or hazardous conditions. Matched propagation delays between the low-side and high-side sections guarantee cycle distortion-free operation. The built-in microcontroller is based on a high-performance 32-bit Arm Cortex-M0+ core running at up to 64 MHz, featuring a memory protection unit to enhance application safety. With a rich feature set — including a 12-bit ADC, an internal voltage reference buffer, one general-purpose 32-bit timer, one 16-bit PWM timer dedicated to motor control, four general-purpose 16-bit timers, two 16-bit low-power timers, and a 5-channel DMA capable of performing data transfers between memory-mapped peripherals and/or memories to offload the CPU — this microcontroller is ideally suited for advanced motor control applications. It also integrates high-speed memory with multiple protection mechanisms, up to 32 available GPIOs, major communication interfaces, comprehensive power-saving modes, and an analog independent power supply input for the ADC. Such a feature-rich microcontroller enables sensorless or sensored single-, dual-, or three-shunt field-oriented control, as well as more traditional six-step commutation schemes. The STSPIN32G0602 also provides comprehensive protection features and an extended operating temperature range, ensuring reliable operation even in the most demanding industrial applications. A serial wire debug interface is provided for microcontroller firmware programming and debugging.
