Introduction
This series of fixed-voltage monolithic integrated circuit voltage regulators is designed for a wide range of applications. These applications include on-board regulation to eliminate the noise and distribution problems associated with single-point regulation. In addition, they can be used with power pass elements to form high-current voltage regulators. Each regulator provides up to 100mA of output current. Internal current limiting and thermal shutdown features make them essentially immune to overload. Current limiting is included to cap the peak output current (250mA ~ 300mA) at a safe value. When used as a replacement for zener diode-resistor combinations, significant improvements in output impedance and lower quiescent current can be achieved.
