Introduction
The SY-NH3-28BPS ammonia gas sensor is designed specifically for ammonia detection, offering the advantages of high sensitivity, low cost, long service life, and low power consumption. This sensor is a metal oxide planar semiconductor type, sintered from nano-scale SnO₂ powder doped with appropriate catalysts. When trace amounts of reducing pollutant gases are present in the air, the sensor's conductance increases, with the magnitude of change rising proportionally to the concentration of the pollutant gas. By measuring the change in conductance, the sensor can detect the concentration of ammonia in the air. For example, when fecal matter or putrefactive odor molecules are present indoors, the sensor generates a corresponding conductance change. Leveraging this sensitivity characteristic, combined with simple MCU control, the sensor can intelligently trigger ventilation equipment, thereby achieving intelligent indoor air purification. The sensor is applicable across a wide range of environments — including homes, restaurants/hotels, guesthouses, livestock farms, and public restrooms — where ammonia and other air pollutants frequently occur, enabling automatic activation of intelligent air purification systems. It is also widely suited for IoT applications, enabling air quality monitoring within a defined space and across an IoT network. The sensor must not be exposed to organosilicon vapors, high-concentration corrosive gases (such as H₂S, SOx, Cl₂, HCl, etc.), alkali metal salts, halogens, water, or freezing conditions. Excessive voltage must also be avoided to prevent performance degradation or damage.
