Introduction
BSP485xx is a series of noise-resistant RS-485 half-duplex transceivers designed for harsh industrial and power environments. The bus pins of these devices can withstand high-level ESD events, protecting the internal circuitry from damage. This series supports an operating voltage range of 3V to 5.5V and is available in compact SOIC8, MSOP8, and DFN8 packages, suitable for space-constrained and multi-point applications over long cables. These devices operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C in naturally ventilated environments.
BSP485xx devices are half-duplex transceivers optimized for RS-485 applications, meeting or exceeding the requirements of the TIA/EIA-485A standard, with data rate options of 500kbps and 20Mbps. The internal ESD protection circuitry ensures the transceiver remains undamaged during high-level ESD events, making it suitable for harsh application environments. With an open, shorted, or idle bus, the receiver output maintains a logic-high level without the need for external fail-safe bias resistors. An integrated over-temperature protection circuit disables the driver and sets the RO output to high impedance when the junction temperature exceeds 200°C (typical); the device re-enables when the junction temperature drops to 175°C (typical). The device operates normally over the extended industrial temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
