Introduction
NS2016 is a 4-wire resistive touchscreen controller with a built-in 12-bit resolution ADC. NS2016 can detect the touched screen position by performing two A/D conversions, and can also measure the pressure applied to the touchscreen. An internal 2.5V reference voltage is provided for use as auxiliary input, temperature measurement, and battery monitoring, with a battery monitoring voltage range from 0V to 6V. NS2016 integrates an on-chip temperature sensor. Under typical operating conditions at 2.7V with the reference voltage disabled, power consumption can be less than 0.75mW.
NS2016 is a typical SAR ADC, incorporating sample/hold, analog-to-digital conversion, and serial data output functions. The chip also integrates a 2.5V internal reference voltage source and temperature detection circuit, and uses an external clock during operation. NS2016 operates from a single supply with a voltage range of 2.0V to 5.5V. The reference voltage directly determines the ADC input range; either the internal reference or an external reference voltage in the range of 1V to VCC can be used (low output impedance is required for the external reference source). Analog signals X, Y, Z, VBAT, Temp, and AUX are routed to the ADC through on-chip control register selection. The ADC can be configured for either single-ended or differential mode. VBAT, Temp, and AUX measurements should be configured in single-ended mode; for touchscreen applications, differential mode should be configured to effectively eliminate measurement errors caused by parasitic resistance of the drive switches and external interference, thereby improving conversion accuracy.
