Introduction
The INA260 is a digital-output current, power, and voltage monitor with an I²C- and SMBus-compatible interface integrating a high-precision shunt resistor. This device supports high-precision current and power measurements and enables overcurrent detection within a common-mode voltage range (0V to 36V) independent of the supply voltage. It is a bidirectional, low-side/high-side shunt monitor that can measure the current flowing through the internal current-sensing resistor. The integrated precision current-sensing resistor allows the device to achieve calibration-level measurement accuracy and ultra-low temperature drift, and ensures that a Kelvin layout optimized for the sensing resistor can always be implemented. The INA260 has up to 16 programmable addresses on the same I²C-compatible interface. The digital interface allows programming of the alarm threshold, ADC conversion time, and averaging. For ease of use, an internal multiplier can be used to directly read the current (in amperes) and power (in watts). The device is powered by a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply with a supply current of 310μA (typical). The INA260 is rated for operation over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and is available in a 16-pin thin shrink small-outline package (TSSOP).
