Introduction
The TPS2596xx series of electronic fuses (integrated FET hot-swap devices) are highly integrated circuit protection and power management solutions in a small package. These devices provide multiple protection modes with few external components and can very effectively protect against overloads, short circuits, voltage surges, and excessive inrush currents. The output current limit level can be set via a single external resistor. Accurate sensing of the output load current can also be achieved by measuring the voltage drop across the current limit resistor. For applications with special requirements for inrush current, the output slew rate can be set via a single external capacitor. For the TPS25962x models, in the event of an input overvoltage condition, the internal clamping circuit limits the output to a safe, fixed maximum voltage (pin-selectable) without the need for external components. The TPS25963x models allow the user to set a specified overvoltage cut-off threshold. These devices are rated for an operating junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
