The INA301 consists of a high common-mode current-sensing amplifier and a high-speed comparator that detects overcurrent conditions by measuring the voltage across a current-sensing or shunt resistor and comparing it against a defined threshold limit. The device features an adjustable limit threshold range set by a single external limit-setting resistor. This shunt monitor measures differential voltage signals over a common-mode voltage range of 0V to 36V, independent of the supply voltage.

The open-drain alert output is configurable in transparent mode (output state follows input state) or latched mode (alert output clears upon latch reset). The device alert response time is less than 1μs, enabling rapid overcurrent event detection.

This device operates from a 2.7V–5.5V single supply with a maximum supply current consumption of 700μA. It is rated for operation over the extended temperature range (−40°C to +125°C) and is available in an 8-pin VSSOP package.
