TPS54308 is a 3A synchronous buck converter with an input voltage range of 4.5V to 28V. The device integrates two switching FETs with internal loop compensation and a 5ms internal soft-start, reducing component count. By integrating MOSFETs in a SOT-23 package, the TPS54308 achieves high power density with a minimal PCB footprint. Under light-load conditions, the TPS54308 operates in Forced Continuous Conduction Mode (FCCM), maintaining a nearly constant switching frequency across the full load range. Cycle-by-cycle current limiting in the two high-side MOSFETs protects the converter during overload conditions, while freewheeling current limiting in the low-side MOSFET prevents current runaway for enhanced protection. When an overcurrent condition persists beyond a preset duration, hiccup-mode protection is triggered.
