Introduction
TPS62135 and TPS621351 are high-efficiency, easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC/DC converters based on DCS-Control™ topology. With a wide input voltage range of 3V to 17V, they are well-suited for applications powered by multi-cell Li-ion batteries and 12V intermediate power rails. The device delivers 4A continuous output current. The TPS62135 automatically enters power-save mode at light load, maintaining high efficiency across the entire load range. This makes it ideal for applications requiring networked standby performance, such as ultra-low-power computers. When the MODE pin is set low, the switching frequency automatically adjusts based on the input and output voltages. This technique, known as Automatic Efficiency Enhancement (AEE™), maintains high conversion efficiency across the entire operating range. The device provides 1% output voltage accuracy in PWM mode, enabling power supply designs with high output voltage precision. The typical quiescent current is 18μA. In shutdown mode, the device current is typically 1μA, with active output discharge (available on TPS62135 only; the output voltage discharge function is disabled on TPS621351). The TPS62135 is available as an adjustable version in a 3mm x 2mm VQFN package.
