Introduction
The LMR62421 is a simple, space-efficient 2.1 A low-side switching regulator well suited for boost and SEPIC DC-DC regulation. The device integrates all the active functions needed to provide local DC/DC conversion, fast transient response, and accurate regulation in the smallest possible PCB footprint. The switching frequency is internally set to 1.6 MHz, enabling the use of very small surface-mount inductors and chip capacitors while achieving efficiency approaching 90%. Current-mode control and internal compensation deliver ease of use, minimal component count, and high-performance regulation across a wide range of operating conditions. An external shutdown circuit with an ultra-low standby current of 80 nA makes this device ideal for portable applications. The compact SOT23-5 and LLP-6 packages save board space. Additional features include an internal soft-start circuit to reduce inrush current, pulse-by-pulse current limiting, and thermal shutdown.
