The TPS25983 series of electronic fuses are highly integrated circuit protection and power management devices in a small package. These devices can operate over a wide input voltage range. A single device is suitable for low-voltage systems that require minimal I*R voltage drop and high-voltage, high-current systems that require low power dissipation. The TPS25983 series can effectively prevent overloads, short circuits, voltage surges, reverse currents, and excessive inrush currents. Overvoltage events are limited by an internal cutoff circuit with a user-adjustable overvoltage threshold. This series offers a variety of device options, allowing selection between overcurrent condition response, circuit breaker, or active current limiter. An overcurrent limit threshold can be set using a single external resistor. These devices intelligently manage the overcurrent response by distinguishing between transient events and actual faults, enabling the system to operate continuously during line and load transients without compromising the robustness of fault protection. The devices can be configured to latch off or automatically retry after a fault shutdown. A capacitor can be used to configure the number of automatic retries and the retry delay. With this feature, remote systems can automatically recover from temporary faults while ensuring that the power supply is not stressed indefinitely due to persistent faults. These devices offer the option to drive an external series N-FET, designed to achieve reverse current blocking in the disabled or shutdown state. Additionally, these devices integrate a precise analog load current monitor, providing enhanced system monitoring and diagnostic capabilities. The TPS25983 devices are available in a 4mm × 4mm small QFN package. These devices are rated for an operating junction temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
