Introduction
OPA521 is a line driver power amplifier compliant with CENELEC Band A, B, C, D and ARIB STD-T84, FCC Part 15 PLC conducted emission requirements. The device delivers up to 2.5A into high-current, low-impedance lines with reactive loads. OPA521 features an optimized internal protection architecture, requiring minimal external protection components for a cost-effective and space-saving system. With a bandwidth of 3.8MHz, the OPA521 provides a closed-loop gain of –7V/V. This monolithic IC delivers high reliability for power line communication applications. The OPA521 line driver operates from a single supply of 7V to 24V. Under typical load current conditions (ΔIout = 2.5A, maximum), the wide output swing provides 10VPP at a nominal supply voltage of 24V. The device features overtemperature and short-circuit protection. A fault flag indicates current and thermal limit conditions. A shutdown pin is provided to place the device in a low-power state, drawing 58μA (typical). The OPA521 is available in a surface-mount 5mm×5mm 20-pin VQFN (RGW) package. The device operates over an extended industrial junction temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
