Introduction
The MXR7150VW is a low-cost dual-axis accelerometer fabricated using standard sub-micron CMOS processes. It measures full-scale acceleration from -13.3g to +13.3g with a sensitivity of 150mV/g. The accelerometer provides ratiometric analog outputs proportional to g, centered at 50% of the supply voltage at zero g. Typical noise floor is 8mg, with an inherent 3dB roll-off frequency of 29Hz to resist and attenuate high-frequency vibrations present in automotive applications. It is housed in a hermetically sealed LCC SMT package (5.5mm x 5.5mm x 2.7mm height), available for XZ sensing, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, capable of measuring both dynamic acceleration (e.g., vibration) and static acceleration (e.g., gravity). Its design is based on thermal convection with no solid proof mass, eliminating stiction, particle, and inherent resonant frequency issues associated with competing devices. It withstands shocks greater than 50,000g, significantly reducing failure rates and handling damage during assembly and end-user field applications. Due to its standard CMOS architecture, additional circuitry can be readily integrated into custom versions, making it suitable for high-volume applications.
