The rotating coupling adapter is a two-piece component featuring a rotatable coupling nut and slotted body, designed to accommodate lipped heat-shrink tubing. When used with compatible molded parts, the rotating coupler optimizes environmental protection and strain relief for unshielded cable terminations. Cable repairs can typically be performed without removing the sleeve. Many cable repairs are made within 75 mm of the connector, usually due to broken pins or wires. By reheating the heat-shrink tubing and unscrewing the backshell coupling nut, the sleeve can be "rolled back," allowing access to the rear of the connector for repair. This technique applies to rotating coupling backshells that use heat-shrink tubing.
