Introduction
HTR33xx is a 16-bit I²C bus and SMBus IO expander with a supply voltage range of 2.2V~5.5V. Any of the 16 IOs can be independently configured as input or output. In addition, any IO is capable of directly driving an LED.
Upon power-up, the IOs default to input configuration. Settings such as input/output selection and polarity inversion are configured via the I²C interface.
When an IO is configured as an input, the system continuously monitors its state for changes. State changes are indicated by the INTN output. Once the IO status is read via the I²C interface, the INTN output is cleared.
The HTR3339 features an RSTN pin for resetting registers to their default values. The HTR3335, HTR33351, and HTR3339 do not include internal IO pull-up resistors; therefore, when configured as inputs and left unused, external pull-up and pull-down resistors must be connected to the unused IOs.
The HTR3339 supports 4 programmable device addresses, while the HTR3355 and HTR3335 support 8, and the HTR33351 supports 1.
The HTR33xx is available in QFN4×4-24L and QFN3×3-20L packages.
After power-up, when VCC reaches VPORR, an internal power-on reset is executed and the HTR33xx registers revert to their default state. Subsequently, VCC must drop below VPORF to initiate another power-on reset cycle.
Registers In/Out_P0 and In/Out_P1 configure the IOs as inputs or outputs. Each bit in the register corresponds to one IO: setting the bit to "1" configures it as an input, and setting it to "0" configures it as an output. The default value is "0", i.e., output state.
When an IO is set as an input, the current logic state of the IO can be obtained by reading registers Input_P0 and Input_P1 via the I²C interface.
Once an IO is configured as an input, the HTR33xx monitors its state. A change in the input IO state — from high to low or from low to high — can trigger the INTN pin to go low. INTN is an open-drain, active-low output and requires an external pull-up resistor.
