Introduction
The TCA9539-Q1 is a 24-pin device that provides 16-bit general-purpose parallel I/O expansion for a 2-wire bidirectional I2C bus (or SMBus protocol). The device operates over a VCC range of 1.65V to 3.6V and supports clock frequencies of 100kHz (I2C standard mode) and 400kHz (I2C fast mode). When switches, sensors, buttons, LEDs, fans, and other similar devices require additional I/O, I/O expanders such as the TCA9539-Q1 provide a simple solution. The TCA9539-Q1 includes a feature that generates an interrupt on the INT pin when the state of an input port changes. Hardware-selectable address pins A0 and A1 allow up to four TCA9539-Q1 devices to reside on the same I2C bus. The device can also be reset to its default state via a power-on reset generated by power cycling. In addition, the TCA9539-Q1 features a hardware RESET pin that can be used to reset the device to its default state. The TCA9539-Q1 I2C I/O expander meets the requirements of automotive applications.
