Introduction
The ZV series low-voltage varistors are designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment from high-voltage surges in low-voltage applications. They feature excellent transient energy absorption capability due to improved energy-volume distribution and power dissipation. The DC operating voltage range of low-voltage varistors is wide, spanning from 14V to 170V. The ZVY series is identical except that the maximum operating temperature reaches 150°C.
ZV varistors are commonly used to protect components at the PCB level.
Features
- Nickel barrier termination
- AC operating voltage (Vrms) from 11V to 130V
- DC operating voltage (Vdc) from 14V to 170V
- No plastic coating for improved flammability rating
- Bidirectional, low clamping voltage
- Wide range of current and energy handling capability
- Continuous operating temperature +125°C, +150°C for ZVY series
- PCB space and weight savings
- Silver palladium termination also available
- ZVY high-temperature product performance characteristics differ from ZV. Contact Stackpole for details.
- Contact Stackpole for larger reel quantities.
- AEC-Q200 (Grade 1) compliant
- RoHS compliant per exemption 7c-1
- Halogen-free
- REACH compliant
Applications
- ESD protection for components sensitive to IEC 1000-4-2, MIL-STD 883C Method 3015.7, and other industry specifications
- Board-level suppression of inductive switching or other low-to-medium transient events
- On-board transient voltage protection for ICs and transistors
- Replacement for larger surface-mount TVS Zener diodes in many applications
- Aids in achieving EMC compliance for end products
- Available in 6 case sizes: 0603, 0805, 1206, 1210, 1812, and 2220
