Introduction
The TVS1400 can reliably divert fault currents of up to 43A according to IEC 61000-4-5, protecting the system from high-power transient shocks or lightning strikes. This device provides a solution to meet the common EMC requirements of industrial signal lines and can withstand an open-circuit voltage of up to ±2kV according to IEC 61000-4-5 when coupled through a 42Ω impedance. The TVS1400 uses a unique feedback mechanism to ensure precise and smooth clamping capability during faults, guaranteeing that the system contact voltage remains below 20V. Precise voltage regulation allows designers to confidently select system components with lower voltage tolerances, reducing system cost and complexity without sacrificing reliability.
In addition, the TVS1400 is available in a small 2mm × 2mm SON package, making it ideal for space-constrained applications. It has a 70% smaller footprint compared to the industry-standard SMA and SMB packages. The extremely low device leakage current and capacitance minimize the impact on the protected lines. To ensure reliable protection throughout the product's lifespan, the TVS1400 has been tested with 5,000 repeated surge shocks in a high-temperature environment without any change in device performance.
