Introduction
The MagnTek MT9522 product family is a fully integrated, Hall-effect-based isolated linear current sensor IC designed for AC or DC current sensing in industrial, commercial, and communications systems. Each MT9522 consists of a precision, low-offset linear Hall circuit with a built-in low insertion resistance current conductor path. The applied current flowing through this low-resistance current conductor path generates a magnetic field, which the IC converts into a voltage output proportional to the input current. To effectively suppress external common-mode magnetic fields, a differential current sensing technique is employed, improving accuracy in magnetically noisy environments. Chip accuracy is further enhanced by optimizing the magnetic signal-to-noise ratio. The low-offset, chopper-stabilized Hall IC based on CMOS process provides an accurate proportional voltage that is precisely calibrated during manufacturing. When the applied current flows through the internal current conduction path (from pins 1, 2, 3, and 4 to pins 5, 6, 7, and 8), the device output has a positive slope (>VOQ). The typical internal resistance of this conduction path is 0.75mΩ, enabling low power dissipation. The terminals of the conduction path (pins 1 through 8) are electrically isolated from the signal lines (pins 9 through 16). This allows the MT9522 current sensor IC to be used in high-side current sensing applications without the need for additional costly isolation techniques. The MT9522 series is offered to customers in a SOP-16W package, which is RoHS compliant.
