Whether you need to mount an IrDA transceiver with its communication axis parallel or perpendicular to the PCB plane, the ZiLOG ZHX2022 is suited for portable product applications such as USB adapters, laptops, printers, mobile phones, digital cameras, handheld devices, or PDAs. Designed to support all IrDA data rates up to 4 Mbit/s, as well as LocalTalk and Sharp ASK modes, it integrates an IRED transmitter, PIN photodiode detector, IRED driver, and integrated AGC and amplified receive circuitry in a miniature package. The ZiLOG ZHX2022 efficiently implements the IrDA-Data 1.4 standard in a compact form factor. Since only three external components — a current-limiting resistor, a termination resistor, and a decoupling capacitor — are required for a complete IrDA transceiver solution, the application circuit footprint is also minimized. The ZHX2022 supports mode selection and legacy-mode bandwidth switching.
