Introduction
Broadcom 820 nm Miniature Link series components are designed to provide cost-effective, high-performance fiber optic communication links for information systems and industrial applications, with transmission distances of up to several kilometers. Using the HFBR-24x6Z 125 MHz analog receiver, data rates of up to 160 Mbaud can be achieved. Transmitters and receivers are directly compatible with popular "industry standard" connectors: ST, SMA, SC, and FC. They fully support multiple fiber sizes, including 50/125 μm, 62.5/125 μm, 100/140 μm, and 200 μm. Multiple options are available. For example, transmitters with the enhanced protection option P feature pins with greater resistance to electrostatic discharge. This HFBR-141xPxZ integrated solution is implemented by connecting a Zener diode in parallel with the LED. Pairing the HFBR-14x4Z high-power transmitter with the HFBR-24x6Z 125 MHz receiver provides a duplex solution optimized for 100BASE-SX. 100BASE-SX is a Fast Ethernet standard (100 Mb/s) that uses an 850 nm wavelength over multimode fiber. Evaluation kits are available for ST products, including a transmitter, receiver, evaluation board, and technical documentation.
