The ADM2682E/ADM2687E are fully integrated 5 kV rms signal and power isolation data transceivers with ±15 kV ESD protection, suitable for high-speed communication applications on multipoint transmission lines. An integrated 5 kV rms isolated DC/DC power supply eliminates the need for an external DC/DC isolation module. The devices are designed for balanced transmission lines and comply with the ANS/TIA/EIA-485-A-98 and ISO 8482:1987(E) standards. These devices integrate iCoupler technology, combining a 3-channel isolator, a three-state differential line driver, a differential input receiver, and an isoPower DC/DC converter in a single package. Operating from a 5 V or 3.3 V single supply, they provide a fully integrated signal and power isolation RS-485 solution. The ADM2682E/ADM2687E feature active high driver enable and active low receiver enable, with the receiver output entering a high-impedance state when disabled. These devices incorporate current limiting and thermal shutdown protection to prevent excessive power dissipation due to output short circuits and bus contention. Rated for the industrial temperature range, they are available in a 16-lead wide-body SOIC high-integration package with creepage and clearance distances greater than 8 mm. The ADM2682E/ADM2687E use isoPower technology to transfer power through a transformer using high-frequency switching elements.
