The ADuM1250/ADuM1251 are hot-swappable digital isolators with built-in non-latching bidirectional communication channels, compatible with the I²C interface. This eliminates the need to split I2C signals into separate transmit and receive signals for use with discrete optocouplers. The ADuM1250 provides two bidirectional channels, supporting a fully isolated I2C interface. The ADuM1251 provides one bidirectional channel and one unidirectional channel, suitable for applications that do not require a bidirectional clock. Both the ADuM1250 and ADuM1251 incorporate hot-swap circuitry to prevent data corruption when inserting passive cards into an active bus. These isolators utilize iCoupler chip-scale transformer technology. iCoupler is a magnetic isolation technology that offers superior performance, size, and power consumption compared to optocouplers. The ADuM1250/ADuM1251 integrate iCoupler channels with semiconductor circuitry to implement a fully isolated I2C interface in a compact package.
