Introduction
The LMR33640 SIMPLE SWITCHER regulator is an easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC/DC converter that delivers excellent efficiency for demanding industrial applications. The LMR33640 can drive up to 4A of load current from input voltages up to 36V. The LMR33640 provides high light-load efficiency and output accuracy. Features such as power good flag and precision enable facilitate flexible, easy-to-use solutions across a wide range of applications. The LMR33640 automatically folds back switching frequency at light loads to improve efficiency. Protection features include thermal shutdown, input undervoltage lockout, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and hiccup short-circuit protection. Through integration and internal compensation, the device reduces external component count and offers a pin arrangement designed for simple PCB layout. The feature set is designed to simplify implementation across a variety of end products. The LMR33640 is pin-to-pin compatible with the LMR33610, LMR33620, LMR33630 (36V, 1A/2A/3A) and LMR36510 (65V, 1A) and LMR36520 (65V, 2A), completing a scalable SIMPLE SWITCHER power family. This reduces cost and minimizes the effort associated with board layout modifications. The LMR33640 is available in an 8-pin HSOIC package.
