Introduction
The DAC80501, DAC70501, and DAC60501 (DACx0501) digital-to-analog converters (DACs) are high-precision, low-power, voltage-output devices with 16-bit, 14-bit, and 12-bit resolutions respectively. The DACx0501 is designed to be monotonic and can provide linearity of less than 1 LSB. These devices include a 2.5V, 5ppm/˚C internal reference, which can provide a full-scale output voltage range of 1.25V, 2.5V, or 5V. The DACx0501 incorporates a power-on reset circuit to ensure that the DAC output powers up at zero level or mid-level and remains at that level until a valid code is written to the device. These devices consume a low current of 1mA and have a power-down function that can reduce the current consumption to 15μA (typical) at 5V. The digital interface of the DACx0501 can be configured as either SPI or I²C mode via the SPI2C pin. In SPI mode, the DACx0501 uses a common 3-wire serial interface that operates at a clock frequency of up to 50MHz. In I²C mode, the DACx0501 supports standard (100kbps), fast (400kbps), and fast + (1.0Mbps) operating modes. The DACx0501 is available in an easy-to-assemble 10-pin VSSOP package and a small 2mm×2mm, 8-pin WSON package. These devices are rated for an industrial temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
