TPS54540B is a 42V, 5A step-down regulator with an integrated high-side MOSFET. Current mode control provides simple external compensation and flexible component selection. A low-ripple pulse skip mode reduces no-load supply current to 146μA. When the EN pin is pulled low, shutdown supply current drops to 2μA.

The UVLO is internally set at 4.3V but can be raised using the EN pin. The output voltage startup ramp is internally controlled to ensure a managed startup and eliminate overshoot.

The wide switching frequency range enables optimization for either efficiency or external component size. Output current is cycle-by-cycle current limited. Frequency foldback and thermal shutdown protect internal and external components under overload conditions.

The TPS54540B is available in an 8-pin thermally enhanced HSOIC PowerPAD package.
