Introduction
The TVS1401 diverts up to 30A of IEC 61000-4-5 fault current to protect systems against high-power transients or lightning strikes. The device withstands 1kV IEC 61000-4-5 open-circuit voltage coupled through 42Ω impedance, meeting common EMC requirements for industrial signal lines. The TVS1401 uses a feedback mechanism to ensure precise soft-clamping during fault events, keeping the system contact voltage consistently lower than that of conventional TVS diodes. Precise voltage regulation allows designers to confidently select system components with tighter voltage tolerances, reducing system cost and complexity without compromising reliability. With a ±14V operating range, the TVS1401 can operate in systems requiring reverse-polarity protection.
In addition, the TVS1401 features a compact SON package designed for space-constrained applications, offering a significantly reduced footprint compared to standard SMA and SMB packages. Low device leakage current and capacitance ensure minimal impact on the protected line. To guarantee reliable protection throughout the product's entire service life, the TVS1401 was subjected to 5,000 repeated surge impulse tests at 125℃ with no change in device performance.
