Introduction
The TPS61390 is a 700kHz PWM boost converter featuring an 85V switching FET with an input range of 2.5V to 5.5V. The switching peak current reaches up to 1000mA. The TPS61390 incorporates a precision current mirror with two selectable gain options (1:5 or 4:5). In addition, the TPS61390 integrates a sample-and-hold circuit designed for burst-mode optical receiver applications, which captures the current flowing through the APD and transfers it to an external ADC. The device achieves fast response times when transitioning between high and low optical power levels. The TPS61390 also provides high optical power protection by placing an additional FET in series with the APD power path, with a typical response time of 0.5μs. It automatically recovers when the high optical power condition subsides.
