Introduction
The INA381 includes a 26V common-mode current-sensing amplifier and a high-speed comparator. The device detects overcurrent conditions by measuring the voltage across a shunt resistor and comparing this voltage with a user-defined threshold limit (set via the comparator reference pin). This current shunt monitor can measure differential voltage signals over a common-mode voltage range of –0.2V to 26V, independent of the supply voltage. The open-drain alert output can be configured to operate in two modes: transparent or latched. In transparent mode, the output state follows the input state. In latched mode, the alert output clears only when the latch is reset. The large-signal alert response time of the independent comparator is less than 2μs, enabling fast detection of overcurrent events. The total system overcurrent protection response time provided by the INA381 is less than 10µs. The device is powered by a single 2.7V to 5.5V supply and consumes a maximum supply current of 350μA. The device has an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and is available in 8-pin and 10-pin VSSOP packages.
