Introduction
Excelitas Technologies' SPCM-AQRH-XX-TR is the latest generation single photon counting module, specially selected and performance-optimized for timing resolution. The module uses specially selected SLiK silicon avalanche photodiodes, achieving peak photon detection efficiency (PDE) exceeding 75% at 650nm wavelength over an active area of 180μm diameter, while delivering timing resolution better than 250ps. Although some performance parameters — particularly afterpulsing probability — have been sacrificed to optimize timing performance, other performance parameters of the standard SPCM-AQRH, such as excellent uniformity, overload protection, temperature stability, and linearity, are maintained in this new timing-optimized module. The -TR series modules are designed to support applications including time-correlated single photon counting (TCSPC), fluorescence lifetime measurements, and fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM). Excelitas' photon counting module series is designed and manufactured in full compliance with EU Directive 2015/863/EU — Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS).
