Introduction
Fires caused by vehicle collisions can result in fatalities when occupants are unable to escape from burning vehicles. Effective fire suppression systems help reduce the death toll in such situations. The Honeywell 3000 Series thermostats are a line of rugged, sealed thermostats that signal when a specific temperature is reached. In automatic fire suppression systems, the thermostat sends a release signal to the system upon detection of a fire. When the ambient temperature of the thermostat reaches its rated temperature, the switch contacts close, completing the circuit that triggers the system actuator. As the thermostat cools, the contacts reopen, returning the thermostat to its normal operating state. At least one thermostat is installed in each protected zone of the vehicle, and the four-conductor configuration allows continuous integrity monitoring of all circuits connected to the thermostats.
