Introduction
The 820 nm Miniature Links series components are designed to provide cost-effective, high-performance fiber optic communication links for information systems and industrial applications, with transmission distances of up to several kilometers. When used with the HFBR-24x6Z 125 MHz analog receiver, data rates up to 160 MBaud are supported. Transmitters and receivers are directly compatible with popular "industry standard" connectors: ST, SMA, SC, and FC. The products fully support multiple fiber specifications, including 50/125 µm, 62.5/125 µm, 100/140 µm, and 200 µm. Various options are available. For example, transmitters with the enhanced protection option P provide improved ESD immunity on the pins. The HFBR-141xPxZ integrated solution achieves this by connecting a Zener diode in parallel across the LED. Pairing the HFBR-14x4Z high-power transmitter with the HFBR-24x6Z 125 MHz receiver delivers a duplex solution optimized for 100BASE-SX — a Fast Ethernet standard (100 Mb/s) based on 850 nm multimode fiber. Evaluation kits for ST products are available, including a transmitter, receiver, evaluation board, and technical documentation.
