Introduction
These high-gain series optocouplers incorporate an LED and an integrated high-gain photodetector, providing extremely high current transfer ratio between input and output. Separate pins for the photodiode and output stage enable TTL-compatible saturation voltage and high-speed operation. When required, the VCC and VO terminals can be connected together for conventional photo-Darlington operation. The base access terminal allows gain-bandwidth adjustment. The 6N139, HCPL-0701, and HCNW139 are suitable for CMOS, LSTTL, or other low-power applications. Over the 0 to 70°C operating temperature range, a minimum CTR of 400% is guaranteed at an LED current of only 0.5mA. The 6N138, HCPL-0700, and HCNW138 are primarily designed for TTL applications. At temperatures from 0 to 70°C, the minimum CTR is 300% at an LED current of 1.6mA. The minimum 300% CTR enables driving 1 TTL load when using a 2.2kΩ pull-up resistor.
