Introduction
This device is a voltage switch for metal halide lamp ignition circuits and high-pressure sodium lamp ignition circuits used in outdoor street and area lighting. This robust solid-state switch is designed to handle ignitor applications requiring ambient temperatures up to 90°C, where ignition circuit components may cause junction temperatures to rise to 125°C, particularly when lamp elements are removed or broken. Its excellent commutation time makes this product suitable for generating multiple pulses within each half-cycle of a 50/60 Hz line voltage. The device is housed in a DO-15 axial-lead package. The device features a minimum repetitive off-state blocking voltage of 180V to 270V. Blocking capability is ensured by glass-passivated junctions for high reliability. The package is epoxy-encapsulated with tin-plated copper alloy leads.
